Connor Riley Moucka, a 26-year-old from Kitchener, Ontario, pleaded guilty to orchestrating a sprawling extortion campaign against Snowflake customers. Moucka admitted to computer fraud and conspiracy charges related to attacks on more than 165 organizations using the cloud data warehouse platform.
The scope of Moucka's criminal activity extended far beyond Snowflake. He also confessed to stealing call and text message records belonging to over 100 million AT&T customers. This data theft represented one of the largest breaches of telecommunications customer records in recent years.
Moucka emerged as one of 2024's most consequential cybercrime actors. His operation exploited weak or compromised credentials to access Snowflake instances, then demanded ransom payments from affected organizations.
