Belgian news agency Belga reported that refrigeration units at Delhaize, Carrefour and Spar in Belgium were affected by a cyberattack. According to Belga, the attackers remotely switched the units' evaporators to defrost mode, causing the fridges and freezers to warm up.
The source also reports that similar attacks have hit shops in Luxembourg and Sweden. The attacks follow an incident about three weeks earlier that affected refrigeration units in French supermarkets. The source says the attacks again caused refrigerated food to spoil.
The report does not name the attackers, identify the vulnerability or product involved, or say how the attackers gained access.
