Microsoft released patches for more than 1,400 security vulnerabilities across Windows operating systems and other software. The update substantially exceeds the September patch cycle, which addressed nearly 1,000 flaws and was already considered abnormally large at roughly ten times the company's typical monthly patch volume.

The scale of this month's release underscores an accelerating trend in the volume of security fixes Microsoft has deployed in recent months. September's near-1,000-vulnerability patch set broke from Microsoft's historical norms, establishing a baseline that October's batch has now doubled.
